T & D sammiches!

Now a simple bread in bread sandwich isn't good enough. There has to be a sufficient turkey to non-turkey-filling ratio of at least 1:1. Plus, the turkey "should" be chopped up into approximate 1/2 inch cubes.

I don't mind bread on bread, but the TH article above says Cremer's uses "turkey tenders" which is "frozen pure dark turkey meat," and I really prefer white meat. The sandwiches I had recently were so dark and spicy, they tasted almost like duck or sausage.

Good stuff Mike. I'm glad this ran in the TH because I forgot about the Dubuquer. I stumbled across it before and found it entertaining...I believe it was a post about contacting Hormel regarding Dubuque Plumpers.

Anyway...I pull that Bill the Cat trivia out on people all the time. A couple more Pop Culture references from the 80's include...

Tony asking Angela if she has ever seen the lights of Dubuque at night on "Who's the Boss." One of his favorite memories from college at UD?

Another would be the neighbors on The Hogan Family, The Pools I think, would often talk of how they were from Dubuque.

My stats shot up to about 85 visitors the day the article came out, which is about 80 more visitors than I usually average per day. :-) So far I've not faced any negative feedback but I did tone down the language in my recent review of local used furniture stores.

I think that we bloggers tend to exhibit a strange combination of thoughtful introverts and "look at me! look at me" type behavior. It's nice to have experienced a smattering of positive reinforcement. Perhaps the temporary increase in readers due to the print mention will draw in a few friends who wouldn't have discovered us otherwise.

Hi Pamela,

I've been enjoying the semi-anonymous nature of blogging, too, and I almost turned down the interview. But I talked to my wife about it, and Maggie said it'd be odd for me to work on a blog and not want people to read it. She also pointed out that not many people will read the blog or care who I am, anyway, even with an article in the TH. Heh!

Hi! I enjoyed reading your entire transcript. Thanks for posting it.

I was one of the other three bloggers profiled for Courtney's article, and I did my "interview" by email. I was toying with the idea of putting the complete thing on my weblog.

Still not sure since I'm leery about the privacy aspect. I try to keep a certain level of anonymity online and worry about the intersection of "real" life and my online endeavors. However do you keep everything from becoming all knotted up?
